TIMELINE

2019

FOUNDATION

The Ides of March was founded in 2019 in Milan (IT) from the singer Ivan Russo's passion for Iron Maiden and the will to create a new tribute band project to share such passion with the Maiden fans of North Italy.

Ivan searched for motivated band members and found the other co-founders in Tony De Padua and Luca Romanò. After a few audiences, the bassist Gabriele Moratti and guitarist Stefano Mansueto were selected to join the band.

The name of the band is inspired by the first song of the album Killers, and by the official date of formation of the band on the day of the "Ides of March", the 15th March.

The band held its first live on the 27th September 2019 in Milan.

WORKING OUR WAY UP THE LADDER

The year of the pandemic did not allow the band to perform live, with the entire musical panorama forced to stop, at least in the first half of the year.

Autumn passed again and the band took part in the contest for bands of the beautiful and popular “Rock on the Road” in Desio (MB) – IT.

The band successfully qualified to the second and subsequent rounds. In the meantime, it started appearing in several clubs of Lombardy with excellent response from the audience, getting a loyal following that gradually became larger and larger.

STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD

Year 2021 saw the band continuing with several gigs although the competition around was huge and emerging among dozens of Iron Maiden tribute bands, even well-established ones, turned out to be a long process and required a lot of patience.

However, the band has always shown a "unique" ans special energy, and demonstrated it by epically winning the contest at Rock on the Road in Desio, with the Final held on the 9th of December 9 2021.

THE FIRST BIG ACHIEVEMENTS

In 2022, the victory of the contest at Rock on the Road made the band enter the official program of the venue.

The number of gigs in North Italy grew continuously and the loyal following and appreciation increased, leading the band to be the tribute to Iron Maiden with the most number of concerts Italy during the year.

2023

ITALY AND ABROAD

2023 was the year of the first gig at the Hard Rock Cafè in MIlan and the first two concerts abroad, in Switzerland and Germany.

The first live show in Germany was magical, the German metalheads went crazy, and the club manager was stunned.

The concert on the 30th September 2023 at the Rock on the Road in Desio was amazing, the venue overflowing with people beyond its maximum capacity, and two very special guests: Linda Harris and Mimi Burr, respectively sister of Steve Harris and wife of the legendary Clive Burr.

2024

LONDON AND THE CHANGE IN THE LINE-UP

The Ides of March expanded beyond the borders of Italy, Switzerland , and Germany getting across the Channel. The concert on the 15th March 2024 at the Cart & Horses - The Birthplace of Iron Maiden - in London (UK) was the definitive consecration and confirmation of the quality of this band, the only active Italian tribute band to Iron Maiden to appear at C&H and be confirmed in the official schedule of the venue.

The official fan club was also created, and it's manager is a big fan of the band, the superb Marco Pezzoli.

Year 2024 has also been the year of Dario Bonzani's entry in the role of Adrian Smith. Dario's debut happened at Rock on the Road in Desio, in front of a very large and excited audience.
